InPwr Inc. was recognized for its work on the Boston Fires.
On Sept. 13, 2018, a service call with the utility’s work crew
went frightfully wrong when taking an old cast-iron gas
main out of service. The pressure of the new plastic gas
main reacted, due to the sensors not being properly shut off,
resulting in the filling of the lines with natural gas. Within
minutes, houses across the communities of Lawrence,
Andover and North Andover began exploding from the gas
buildup – a truly horrific scene, causing several injuries, one
fatality, and thousands of families’ homes and treasures
up in flames! Scenes like this are truly heartbreaking,
and InPwr Inc. was grateful to once again deploy their
Disaster Recovery team to help in their times of need.
Upon arrival into Massachusetts, InPwr’s crew of 50 men
and women worked fast and furious, nearly 17,000 man InPwr Inc. was hired to do the job for their valued Disaster
hours, to provide temporary electric and heat solutions Recovery experience and design/build expertise. The goal
to the individual residences as soon as possible for and end result was to bring temporary power and heat to
the holidays. Through it all, hundreds of 125kW diesel the households, so the official rebuild of these communities
generators were set, DLO cable installed, and distribution could begin. The InPwr team utilized on-site engineering to
panels connected. From there, 6/4 spider box cables were develop a schedule, schematics, and guidelines, ensuring
installed, with 2-4 space heaters per spider box, and CO/ all electrical installations were completely safe and code
smoke detectors per residence. Work was completed at an compliant. The attention-to-detail and care were unsurpassed
approximate total of 2,500 residences on December 23rd, as the team created as-built drawings of the installations
just in time for Santa’s visit to these Boston residences. while performing quality control inspections on every
install prior to firing up the generators and turning power
on to the electric space heaters inside the residences.
